My name is Russ Baker. I was saved whilst in prison 4 years ago. I was 1 of 6 children to survive cancer, but grew up hating and blaming everything on surviving. I started using pornography at an early age, and after a prayer to Satan, I tried many times committing suicide, with the sudden death of my Father, I indulged in homosexuality, and addiction to drugs. Ending up in Prison, Jesus Christ found me and transformed me. Even saving my life again, when I broke my neck, and should have been paralysed (breaking the same bone as Christopher Reeve) He brought me a wife, and now through Him, the gospel has become my main part of life and every week I go out as part of a team in my local city.
I have been with Avanti for close to 8 months but have been preaching the gospel for nearly 2 years on the streets of my local city. I am currently on the Avanti mentoring programme, which is helping me focus and speak more clearly about evangelism. I also help with Avanti Prison ministries. To dare I have had a few opportunites with Avanti to testify, and also with the help from mentors, confidently speak on evangelism in local churches.
