I am a simple Canadian who came from a good family in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. The need for a relationship with Christ was the foundation of my upbringing and for the most part, I kept myself away from legal and moral rebellion as a youth. As well intentioned as I was, I’ll be the first to admit that I was disillusioned about what it meant to live for God. To find excitement or worth, I had a habit of putting myself in danger and was used to watching Him bail me out. Before I realized I was taking God for granted, I travelled the world and had to fight for my life against the tallest mountain in the world. I started to consider whether I was chasing death instead of actually living for Christ. In time, I began to understand that freedom from the consequence of sin is the most exciting thing that can happen to any person.
Working with Avanti gives me an opportunity to take Christ’s sacrifice seriously. I’m happy to share the Gospel and explain what it took for me to recognize that it is true. That it fixes the brokenness of humanity and that He is everything we have always been looking for. I can’t say I’m often fond of limelight, but if I can do anything to see that the Lord gets the acclaim He deserves, I know I should. I’ll pass out a tract, converse with a stranger, speak in front of groups or teach other Christians how to too. My hope is that when I get to heaven, I will recognize more people there.
