My name is Peter Ruck. I was brought up in a little village called Abridge in Essex. Sunday school was my early introduction to God. As a teenager I dreamt of being a professional footballer followed by a lifestyle of pubs, clubs and girls!
I settled down got married and we had two children. My ambition was to be successful and therefore I started my own business. I became a totally self willed person with my prime focus being a “life of making money, working all hours to get bigger and better”. I got involved with all sorts of “boy things” which included cars, golf, Freemasonry and frequent visits to the pub. I was stubborn and a self-centered guy.
Then reality kicked in. My wife Eileen was beset by health problems. My money or medicine did not provide a solution to all our problems. I was in turmoil! I was drinking heavily which only aggravated the whole situation. I just hadn’t realised how much my wife’s illness had affected me. I would “secretly” pray the Lord’s Prayer” that I had learnt in Sunday school!
A miraculous encounter provided a second chance at my life.
My wife’s relatives invited us to church, we were desperate. She was so ill! I was not in control and became hopelessly discouraged. I started to listen to The Word of God. I was being challenged in the book of Romans, it was as though God was speaking to me, I started to talk to HIM. I responded to the Gospel message asking for forgiveness of my sins! I had a miraculous encounter with God that transformed my life irrevocably in a meeting on 31st January 1993. I was saved from the wreckage of a devastating car accident and saved from the wreckage of life beset by problems. The burdens and the discouragement, I walked around with were replaced with an inner peace of love and joy!
Eileen had an amazing miracle her blind eye opened. She came to acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ before she died. I had such peace knowing her life would be eternal.
My passion is to encourage and tell everyone life can be different. I spent most of my working life in business making huge promises of high standards and lowest prices that ultimately depend on man. “I have a guaranteed message of JESUS our Healer, Provider, and Redeemer”, HE paid the price for you and me!
Yes, I am “Peter Ruck a man of second chances” this is an ideal introduction for me. Psalm 23: 4 “Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me,” is indicative of how God has been faithful to me throughout all my experiences. I am living proof HE cares about ONE you!
God has provided me with amazing opportunities to share this story. I was really challenged by a song some time ago entitled “You’re the Only Jesus Some Will Ever See”. This became a reality, when I had a wonderful opportunity to take the Gospel deep into the Rainforest jungle of Malaysia. This came about through my Malaysian born wife Judy Choo-Ean’s family. God put in my spirit a desire a long time ago, the spirit of Mark 16:15 “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
My fervent aim is to encourage those who already believe and invite those who do not, to hear my testimony of God’s goodness, grace and mercy proving that God is real.
